One-of-a-kind Country Art Gourds: Floral Gourds and Gourd vases

About this blog:

I am a retired career contractor and carpenter. I have always built the things me and my family needed, including 4 different homes. My wife Connie and I own a 1.5 acre property in Plymouth, WI and we have filled almost the whole yard with gardens. We grow raspberries, corn, green beans, strawberries, cauliflower, tomatoes, apples, potatoes, onions, and more.

I have always had a workshop for woodworking and my other creative endeavors. Recently, I started drying the gourds that I grow in my garden.

This practice has opened up a new world to me. My daughter gave me a book entitled, "Making Gourd Dolls and Spirit Figures", and I have since gone from painting a smile on a gourd, to cutting into them and adding to them with clay. I have created creatures, little people, vases and containers, and other shapes and forms with gourds.

My daughter built this website for me to display my gourd creations and to share a little bit about my garden and my process.
